10 Things You Need to Start Doing For White Teeth by Your Wedding Day

Every woman wants to look her best on her wedding day! Not just for her partner (though that's a biggie), but for herself, the guests, and, of course, the photos!

It’s a big day––you’ll want to make sure you have a killer smile that can shine through any veil and stop your partner dead in their tracks. So, while you’re preparing the dress, the venue, and probably trying to make sure you don’t sit feuding family members too close to each other, keep these tips in mind to get white teeth by your wedding day.

Get white teeth quickly

  1. 10. Brush Often!

According to one alarming study, the average person brushes their teeth just once a day and for no more than 30 seconds at a time, even though we all know you're supposed to brush at least twice a day for two minutes. Gross.

The first thing you need to do, therefore, is to make sure you’re brushing often enough and for long enough. Don’t worry about over brushing––as long as you’re applying the right amount of pressure to your teeth and gums, it’s not possible to brush too much!

You should, however, be careful with regards to brushing after eating, especially if you have eaten something acidic––the acid may weaken the enamel and immediate brushing will damage it.

  1. 9. Brush Properly

Many of us develop poor oral hygiene habits when we are young and these tend to stay with us as we age. We know not brushing enough is one of these, but you might not know about some others:

  • Applying too much force: If you’re damaging your bristles every time you brush, you’re brushing too hard.
  • Rinsing after brushing: This is not recommended with fluoride toothpaste as it needs to stay on the teeth to do its job.
  • Using mouthwash after brushing: Use it before you brush! Otherwise, you’re washing the toothpaste away.
  • Overusing whitening toothpaste: It's designed for occasional use. You need to use fluoride toothpaste to strengthen and clean, and whitening toothpaste to whiten.

  1. 8. Floss, floss, floss!

Flossing is another aspect of oral hygiene that is seriously lacking in the average routine. Flossing is just as important as brushing, as it removes trapped bits of food that would otherwise cause a build-up of plaque and decay. And the last thing you want if you are trying to get white teeth is a painful hole that needs to be filled in.

Flossing can be a long and drawn-out process, which is why so many of us skip it. But, if you feel that way, invest in a water flosser! You can fill it with water or with mouthwash, saving time and encouraging regular flossing.

  1. 7. Start Water Pulling or Oil Pulling

Studies have yet to prove that oil pulling (often done with coconut oil) is more effective than water pulling, but it has shown that both of these are effective at reducing oral bacteria. After eating, spend some time “pulling” water through your teeth (basically vigorous rinsing) before spitting it out.

  1. 6. Eating Well (as if you needed yet another reason to)

A diet rich in whole foods, including plenty of vegetables, can help limit the build-up of stains on your teeth. These foods may also help to reduce the amount of bacteria that forms in your mouth and could even reduce the plaque build-up on your teeth.

A good diet really does go a long way!

  1. 5. Watch out for Food and Drinks that Stain

Limit your intake of things like wine, tea, and coffee. Sugar is also a major contributor to stains and decay––while sugary drinks are generally not that bad, candies and anything that sticks to the teeth can be.

Everything begins with your diet! Get that right and you’re good to go. Get it wrong, and you could be fighting a losing battle from that moment on.

  1. 4. Stop Smoking

Smoking is one of the worst things that you can do as far as stains are concerned, so, if you smoke, think about stopping. We know it’s easier said than done, but it will make a massive difference to both your outward appearance and your overall health.

  1. 3. Try Some DIY Teeth Whitening Home Remedies

Not all teeth whitening home remedies work, but some of them do and it’s worth trying a few of these out, especially if you are on a budget and cannot afford the more expensive treatments. Here is a short rundown of teeth whitening remedies you can use in anticipation of your wedding day:

  • Activated Charcoal
  • Baking Soda
  • Hydrogen Peroxide Solution

  1. 2. Use a Whitening Toothpaste

A whitening toothpaste can help to chip away at the plaque that has formed on your enamel. It contains very abrasive substances that essentially act like sandpaper on your teeth. Some whitening toothpaste also contains very weak solutions of bleaching agents like hydrogen peroxide.

Caution is advised when using these and you should not use them in excess, especially if you have sensitive teeth.

  1. 1. Use a Teeth Whitening System!

A lot of the tips above will help you to whiten your enamel, where extrinsic stains build up. They won’t touch the inner part of the tooth though, where intrinsic stains can build up.

For that, you need an effective teeth whitening kit like the SNOW Teeth Whitening system! It delivers better results than what you would get from your dentist, for a fraction of the price (and you can do it while you watch Netflix).

Put an end to your extensive oral hygiene regime and ensure your teeth are gleaming bright when you walk down the aisle. For an added bonus, use it the morning of the wedding to give your teeth that final polish!
